The following test was done using a Dell
Latitude C400 ultraportable laptop computer in an office with an
air temperature in the low 50's. The
first infrared photograph shows the heat build-up under laptop
after 45 minutes use on a desk. The lighter the color the hotter
the temperature. The hottest part of the laptop base was 104
degrees F. |

The laptop with was put on a desktop
without using the elevators (a worst case scenario because using
the elevators can raise one end of the laptop to provide
additional ventilation), and run continuously for 45 minutes of
desk use. The warmest part of the
surface reached 87 degrees F, which was 17 degrees F
less than laptop base temperature (104 degrees F). |
